Almost €500,000 has been allocated for the development of a Blueway running the length of the County from north Bray to south Arklow.
The announcement comes as Wicklow County Council is due to announce their Outdoor Recreation Strategy this week that will run until 2025.
A new Blueway already forms part of the strategy, and the funding will now be used to establish a network of multi-activity recreational trails and sites linked with the Irish Sea.
A recent funding allocation also saw almost 2.5 million euro being set aside for the second phase of the Celtic Routes project, in collaboration with partners in Wicklow and Wales.
