Wicklow County Council has designated Arklow Town as a pilot decarbonisation zone in an effort to combat the effects of climate change in the county.
The town will have a target of reducing annual emissions by 7%, achieving a 51% reduction by the end of the decade. Learning from this project will be applied throughout the garden county, with the goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions for the whole of Wicklow by 2050.
The local chamber and Municipal District are among the key partners that will help the development of the project.
