Government Launch 'Be Winter Ready' Campaign

217 thousand tonnes of salt will be available to grit the country's roads this winter.

The Business Minister Heather Humphreys says financial support will be available to businesses impacted by flooding, after a similar scheme worked well following Storm Lorenzo.

Despite 679 people waiting on hospital trolleys yesterday, there is no mention of how overcrowding will be managed.

The HSE says a winter action plan for hospital overcrowding is in the works.

300 additional beds for rough sleepers will be delivered under the plan, 150 of which are already in place.
