Irish Water Granted Capital Commitment Worth Almost €90 Million For Water Treatment Projects

Irish Water has been granted a capital commitment worth almost €90 Million for two key projects to increase resilience and security of treated water supply in the Greater Dublin Area.

The Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien has approved this key funding that will allow the utility to progress with their project plans that includes the design and construction of a new reservoir at the existing Saggart Waterworks site, that will store water supplied from the Ballymore Eustace Treatment Plant in Kildare. 

A 9km trunk watermain will also provide additional pipeline capacity at Ballycoolen Reservoir and Swords in North Dublin.

Work is due to start shortly and is expected to take over two years to complete with a view to increase capacity for residential and commercial developments across the Greater Dublin region.
