A large scale rescue mission took place just off Greystones Harbour on Bank Holiday Monday following a 999/112 call saying the vessel was taking in water.
The Maritime Co-ordination Centre (MRCC) deployed the Greystones Coastguard Unit along with rescue helicopter ‘Rescue116’. A call was also made via the Maritime radio network for local vessels to assist.
The 16ft open vessel which was partially sunk approximately 1 mile off the coast of Greystones had a crew of 3 onboard, a couple and their dog Lilly on board. Despite the trio going overboard, all three were wearing life jackets and were recovered safely from the water with no medical assistance required.
